We’re excited to introduce Sparrow v2.36, bringing a fully refreshed no-code Assertions experience and a more intelligent Pre & Postscript editor inside the Test Flow. This release focuses on making test creation, validation, and automation easier, clearer, and faster than ever before, especially for users who want powerful scripting tools alongside clean, guided no-code controls. 🚀

No-Code Assertions Upgrade

The Assertions tab now offers a streamlined, form-based interface that lets you configure validations without writing code. A default test case appears for new blocks, and each assertion includes a Name field, Test Target selector, Condition dropdown, and dynamic inputs that update based on whether you’re checking JSON, XML, headers, text, or time. Real-time validation highlights invalid or missing values, and unsaved changes are clearly indicated. Managing tests is simpler with options to add, duplicate, or remove entries, a Remove All button when multiple tests exist, and a clean + Add Test prompt when the tab is empty—making the entire assertion workflow smooth, flexible, and beginner-friendly.

Enhanced Pre & Post Script Editor

The scripting experience inside Test Flows is more powerful with a fully featured JavaScript editor that supports syntax highlighting, inline error markers, and cursor-based snippet insertion. A searchable Snippets dropdown helps you quickly add reusable code, while a dedicated “Read Documentation” link on the right ensures help is always within reach. This upgrade gives you a clearer, more reliable environment to build and debug automation scripts efficiently.

AI-Powered Code Suggestions

AI assistance is now integrated directly into the script editor, allowing you to generate, regenerate, or discard code suggestions using the prompt bar. Once AI provides a snippet, you can add it to your script instantly or request another version. Empty prompt warnings prevent accidental submissions, and if you reach your monthly usage limit, Sparrow disables the input and notifies you clearly—ensuring smooth and predictable AI usage throughout your workflow.

Improved Test Results Panel

After running your request, Sparrow presents a clearer Test Results view with a pass/fail badge such as “2/3,” shown in green when all tests pass and orange when any test fails. You can filter results by All, Passed, or Failed, and each entry clearly indicates whether it came from a Pre-Script, Post-Script, or Assertion. Script execution errors appear as prominent messages at the top, helping you troubleshoot issues quickly and confidently.

The macOS build is temporarily unavailable for this release due to a technical issue. Our team is actively working on a fix and will notify users once it’s ready. In the meantime, please use the Webapp for the latest updates.

Squashed Bugs/Enhancements

At times, the chatbot may display a "Something went wrong" error, though functionality resumes normally afterward.
Dynamic variable creation might lead to partial data capture.
Sometimes, switching models does not retain the previous logic or context.
Fixing script errors may take more than one attempt, and AI may not always give the expected result.
Swagger YAML link is not supported while adding a Collection for Active Sync.
File upload for LLMs is currently in beta. You may experience occasional issues with uploading, file preview visibility, or model compatibility.

Known Glitches

Here’s what we’re still refining because perfection takes time:

Certain AI models may throw execution errors or exhibit performance lags depending on the serving server.
Query Explorer and Editor sync issues might play a bit of hide-and-seek in GraphQL.
